M.C. Herd process beef, lamb, sheep and bobby calves at our processing facility located in Geelong. We source our stock directly from markets and farmers from many states including Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Tasmania. Our Livestock Team have created long term relationships with farmers and livestock agents to source the stock we require for our processing facility.

Animal Welfare

M.C. Herd is committed to maintain best practice in the treatment and handling of our livestock from transport to processing. As part of our commitment, M.C. Herd has a voluntary approved arrangement by being certified in Australian Livestock Processing Industry Animal Welfare Certification System (AAWCS).

We are regularly audited by the controlling authorities, Department of Agriculture and Water Resources (DAWR) and Aus-Meat to ensure that we meet the above standard requirements.

We will continually strive to improve and promote the importance of animal welfare handling practices including providing appropriate training to our employees for the care and handling of livestock and maintain a preferred supplier list for livestock carriers and transporters.

Most of our dedicated Livestock team have been raised on properties and experienced in handling livestock. For over 70 years our Livestock department are dedicated and passionate about developing relationships with their buyers and respect high standards of animal welfare in the industry.
